Success.

We did it. Each week we have a test and the first one is complete. Here are pictures of myself, Brian, and Hank celebrating at the 'beer stube' (the bar located a floor above where we have our classes). Afterwards we went out to the Hop Leaf in downtown Chicago where I gave Brazillian brewers Rodrigo and Leonardo their first American microbrew experience. These guys know beer, but they dont know the variety we get here up north. They may have had more time learning drunken English than they did trying the beer but thats ok.. we had a blast.

Hey Ian,

I’m glad to hear your internet problem is fixed. I was wondering about that when I was pouring myself the last of the ESB last night. By the way, we never lost power during the storms, so fermentation of your latest beer continues uninterrupted. I still worry that I’m not the right guy to leave in charge of your brewery. IT’S SO MUCH PRESSURE (which is causing me to drink more of your beer).

Congrats on your first test. I’m sure it was a difficult week, 8 hours of school, followed by 4 hours of homework doesn’t sound like much fun to me. Although, the 4 hours of beer tasting at the end of the day sounds inviting. Good job, only a few more weeks to go.  What area of brewing did this test cover? What’s next?

Did you have to do lots of research in that cool library? That’s the only library I’ve seen with kegs on the shelf. Can I get a library card?

How close are you to turning into beer? Your Mom complains that I smell of beer, maybe it’s happening to me.

Love,
Dad
